Elie Skiff 1st launch - 16th December 2017

 DSC 6020 1

Thanks to all the brave souls who came down to the harbour on a brisk December Saturday to help in the first launch of the new Skiff. More outings and an official naming launch will take place in the New Year, but now we know it floats, and with the right effort applied (ideally all rowers pulling at the same time in the same direction........), it cuts an impressive pace through the swell. Much more to come!

In the early 1960’s sailing at Elie & Earlsferry Sailing Club was mainly in dinghies. There were many Fireballs, GP 14s and other types racing around the bay. Over the years, there has been a gradual decline in dinghy sailing and today the dominant craft is the keelboat. There are a wide variety in the harbour from 17 ft to 27ft and these boats regularly take part in club racing and cruising.

If your interests lie in Powerboats the Club has a full programme of events including a well developed training programme and a number of excursions throughout the season. All experience levels are catered for so novices and experienced helms can enjoy cruising in company.

Since the opening of our new clubhouse in 1995, it has been well used by members and guests during the season and for social events and private functions throughout the year.

The Galley, which is open to the public, serves hot and cold snacks, drinks and ice cream at weekends in May, June and September, and all week during July and August. Members can relax in our large and comfortable lounge and enjoy superb views over the harbour.
